I have a large family (5 children), what sort of 10-12 seater vehicle would you recommend as being safest and most economical for the size?

The obvious one that springs to mind is the 2013 Toyota Hiace Minibus. It's available in a 12 seater and the 3.0L diesel engine is claimed to use 9.2L/100km of fuel and it has a four-star ANCAP safety rating which is acceptable. It has a good reputation for reliability as well.

If you decide to buy something with less seating then you should consider the Mercedes Vito Shuttle that offers 9 seating positions and it has a five-star ANCAP safety rating which is good. Another one with nine-seating position is the VW Caravelle T5.
