Hi I'm looking at buying a 2006 Honda accord v6 with 177km on clock, what are the main problems these cars have also is 91 or 95 octane best for them.
Thank

This is very high kilometres for a car of this age, so personally, I'm not sure that I'd be all that keen to own it. The Accord V6 is a smooth car to drive and it might seem like you are getting a lot for your money, but they are quite thirsty. Honda recommends 91 octane fuel.
We are aware that automatic transmissions have been known to give trouble but we're told that a trans overhaul should be able to be done for under $3k, which in this day and age, isn't too bad.

Does this transmission issue apply to Accord Euros with the 2.0/2.4L engine of the same year?

ABayliss

I'm not suggesting the transmission is a major issue, just that we are aware of a few failures. I believe the Euro uses a similar design transmission.
Having said that, the Accord Euro is a very good car and in this day and age, 4 cylinder cars are much more popular than 6 cylinder cars, so I'd probably prefer an Accord Euro to a V6.

Thanks for that. Im also looking at a 2004 Holden Vectra CD 2.2 with 131km for the same price as the Honda ($8900) any known problems with the Vectra and what Octane petrol do they run on.
Also which would be the better buy, im leaning more to the Vectra.
Thanks

I'm not sure I'd want to own a 9 year old Vectra. They suffered numerous electronic problems, control module failures, problems with cambelts breaking prematurely, etc, and they could be expensive to repair.
The Accord Euro would be a much safer proposition.

I didnt think the 2.2 Vectra had a cambelt, dont they have camchain

ABayliss

Yes, sorry about that, you're correct, earlier models had the troublesome belt, but the 2004 2.2 had a chain, although the 3.2 remained with a belt. Having said that, even broken chains were not unheard of.
Either way, I'd still take the Accord over the Vectra for reliability.
