Hi, I'm in need of a smaller/medium hatchback for going to work (small BOP town) along a main highway and taking two children, reliability and safety are important. We are looking at 2007 or newer, less than 50,000Kim's.
There seems to be a lot of different makes from Nissan Tiida, Honda Jazz Fit, Toyata Yaris, Mazda, Holden etc, and we are struggling and need advise about what make and model to look at. Also do we go 1300 or 1500 cc?

Can you give us a rough idea of the budget? The Toyota Yaris, Mazda 3/Axela and Suzuki Swift springs to mind as good vehicles but with a price estimate we can advise further.

The Mazda 3/Axela 1.5L might be best suited to your needs but other cars to consider as well is the 2007 Mazda 2/Demio 1.3L, 2008 Suzuki Swift 1.5L and the Toyota Vitz/Yaris 1.3L or 1.5L. These vehicles have a good reputation for reliability.

The Honda Jazz and Nissan Tiida in the price and year model range are likely to have CVT transmissions fitted to them which is better avoided as they are known to be problematic.
