Hi,

I am wondering what is the best large SUV to buy? We need enough room for prams, car seats, 2 dogs, etc. Also, I guess if we were to go to the expense of an SUV, it will need to have a good tow rating, 4x4, be economical, and reasonably comfortable all round.

This is a little on the budget, but as a sweeping generalisation, the Toyota Prado diesel would tick all the boxes you mention. It has a great reputation for reliability, has a good tow rating and reasonable comfort and economy.
Other possibilites may be the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Ford Territory or Mitsubishi Outlander.
Having said all that, as your question does say "which is the BEST large SUV", the BMW X5 has just won the best in class category at the AA/Motoring Writers' Guild Car of the Year event, but budget constraints may mean it's not an option. Although the X5 is great as a new vehicle, old ones are likely to be expensive to maintain.
