I'm 16 years old and looking at buying my first car. I'm just wondering what size engine would be most suitable for me?

I'll just be driving around town mostly.

Also what would be the maximum km's for a good used car?

I would be looking at an engine size of between 1300cc to 1600cc with a little bit of give and take either way and avoid anything with 4WD (four wheel drive), Turbo, lowered suspension or modified in any way.

The kilometres will depend on how much money you have to spend but I would be drawing the line at around 160,000km. Try and find a car with a proven service history.

Reliability wise you can't really go past the Japanese brands like Toyota, Mazda and Nissan.

Be careful with money owing if you buy privately and consider a pre purchase inspection before you commit to purchase.
