I am looking at buying a newly imported Mazda Axela 1.5L hatchback. I am a bit hesitant, as I have never bought a car myself before, but am in desperate need of one within the next few weeks. I have found a 2005 model for $10000 at an importing dealer in Auckland, which in comparison to other models I have seen seems reasonable, with 107 200 on the milage. Before I get an AA Appraisal done, what sort of things should I be looking at needing to be replaced due to wear and tear, and about how much would I be looking at for it? The advert says that it has been AA Appraised, but when I looked at the appraisals for Mazda's via this page and could not find it, I thought perhaps they might be referring to the AA Odomoter verification. Thanks

An AA appraisal is different to a AA pre-purchase inspection, you should get the pre-purchase inspection carried out. The Mazda Axela has a good reputation but you should consider taking the vehicle for a good service if you purchase it, which could cost around $600.00, as some Japan imports do not have a great service history. Other items that might need replacing in the near future are items such as brake pads/rotors, tyres, alternator belt and wiper blades. We cannot pinpoint which items will need replacing, at which time, but a good service history will go a long way in reducing the risks of premature failure.
