I'm looking into getting a 2nd hand legacy, a decent amount of power is wanted to i'm considering a GT model of 3.0L, looking round the place there is a 2003 GT-B thats done 170,000kms and from the sound of it has been well maintained by the owner, its going for around $14,000.
Is this worth the while or at this age with high Kms is it just disaster waiting to happen (repairs wise)?
theres also a 3.0L 2008 model for 22,000 with 100,000 it would be a stretch going that high but it can be done. would spending the extra be worthwhile in the long run?

These cars have a reputation for high fuel consumption, but if performance is your priority, that's a price you might be prepared to pay.
The '03 car that has travelled 170,000km seems like too high a risk to us. The '08 car with 100,000km would be a lower risk, but as with all used cars, it's not totally without risk.
There's nothing that stands out as being particularly troublesome, plus the 3.0 has a timing chain and not a cambelt. So, if the budget runs to it and you don't mind the fuel consumption, the age and mileage of the '08 car would be the preference.
