We are at the moment quite keen on the Mazda Demio , although I would prefer a manual ,. they are hard too find.
The cars we are looking at are in the 2004--2006 range , do you know of any problems with these cars?

This is a very well regarded model with a great reputation for reliability, so nothing that stands out as being a problem.
