Hi There,

Someone started the bidding on the Maza and its now out of my budget
The Laser still fits in my budget - plus i can trade my own car in the same transaction.

The guy who owned the Mitsubushi never returned my calls - so i see that as a bad sign.

The cambelt on the Laser wad done last week and its nicely groomed
WOF was done in May too

150k is still high i know - but not the 215k as on the Mondeo - Thanks for warning me about that pitfalls of that car!

Sorry to butt in but what is your reason for getting a 2001 car?

If you're looking for a chain driven car for under $5k you can't go wrong with a Nissan Pulsar 1997-2000. They have most of the features of the Mazda and Ford, a good reputation for reliability and they come with 1.8 engine which is handy on the open road. The 1997 pulsar was my first car, bought for $3500 4 years ago at 120kms and I drove it to 220kms before I sold it and all I had to replace were the cv boots. IMO a good car to have a look at on trademe

No major reason in particular for a 2001 car - just a case of an upgrade, My current car is a 1996.
And my budget isnt huge so including selling my car - maximum 5k

The initial question about a chain car was in relation to a Mondeo i was looking at from 2005 - but it was too high in km's in the end
