Hi, I am looking at upgrading my small car from a 1996 1.6 honda civic 3 dr hatch auto which I have had since 1999 , it is very reliable but getting on and I would like 4 dr hatch now. I have been looking at Suzuki swift sport, mazda 2 sport, and now a new toyota yaris , as I decided I didn't really need 1.8 corolla. My wants are 4dr hatch, auto with cruise control and safety features. I do mainly wgtn city driving but also long distance to manawatu area.
Have you any suggestions please, maybe on other cars to look at or comments on these cars.

There is no bad choice here and you could easily do worse, you should also consider the Kia Rio as a good option. Mazda 2 won the world car of the year award in 2008, which is an excellent award to recieve and the Toyota Yaris has the brand name and a good history for reliability and resale values. it comes down to personal choice, my choice would be the Swift Sport for its fun factor, well packaged and good price tag. You should test drive all four of these vehicle and decide which best suits you.
