We are looking to upgrade our 1996 Toyoto Estima and would like some advice on what would be a good vehicle for us to look for.

We have four children aged from 11 - 4 years so will need at least a 6 six seater vehicle but would like to purchase something in the $10,000 range that you can recommend for reliability, economy and safety.

I have always been keen on Toyota vehicles as they have proved their worth in the past but am open to other options.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The Toyota Ipsum is the vehicle that immediately springs to mind. It should tick all the boxes you require.
Otherwise, a later model of the vehicle you already have - a Previa from around 2000 - 2002.
Another model to consider might be the Honda Odyssey, however they tend to be on the thirsty side and we've heard of transmission problems on some models.
