Hi Jack,
My wife wants to buy a second-hand VW beelte (auto transmission). our budget is ~$15,000. My daughter will be 15 this year,so they can share to drive the car. Do you know if the used beelte has any big issue?

Basically, the VW Beetle is the same car as a Mk 4 Golf with different bodywork, therefore, the issues are similar. The biggest concern with these cars is the automatic transmission, which was known to give problems and be relatively expensive to repair.
Maybe if you are looking to buy from a dealer, they may be able to supply an extended warranty that covers the transmission.
