Hi Jack,

I'm looking to buy a car in the $10,000 bracket. I read somewhere that only cars fitted with electronic stabiliser will able to be resold from 2013. Is this true? I obviously wouldn't want to be stuck with a car I can't sell again.

If electronic stabilisers will be a requirement from next year, do you know if they are fitted (and from which year) on the following options I'm considering: Audi A3, Honda Jazz, Golf or Polo GTi?

Thanks
Sharon

I think you mean cars fitted with Electronic Stability Control.

If such a rule was to be introduced, it would relate to any new or used vehicle (depending on the rule and which vehicles it affected) that were first registered in NZ at the time rule applied from.

In other words any cars that were currently registered in NZ would not have to comply with this rule.

In your price bracket the vast majority of used Japanese and Korean cars will not have this feature while it is highly likely many of the Euro’s will.
