I am thinking of buying this car - the owner (a trustworthy family member who is going overseas) says it needs a new cam belt but otherwise it has been maintained well and given no trouble for the 18 months she has owned it.

Is it worth buying this car? The valuation report suggests a price of around $3000 if it needs work

At least you will be buying a vehicle with no known problems which is definitely a big plus. The car is getting on in years so safety wise it may only have a couple of airbags at best.

You may also need to ensure the engine size is adequate for your needs.

Be aware also the cost of replacing the cambelt will not increase the cars value so you need to be buying the car as cheaply as you can.
