Hi
I have a Lexus RX300 2003 the mileage is 114000.
I don't really want to sell this car because i love it very much, but i am afraid that soon i wont be able to get a mechanical insurance or it's going to be very expensive. So I start to worry a little when is the right moment to sell the car?

Lexus has an excellent name for reliability and at 114K your RX300 has plenty of life left yet.

Moving forward an awful lot will depend on regular servicing which over time will no doubt start to increase cost wise as general wear and tear items start to require attention.

It’s always a good idea to sell any car with no known faults and at a time when potential buyers can still see some benefit in terms of ongoing reliability.

Your Lexus could easily be good for another 100K however its resale value may take a bigger hit once the odometer hits that 200K mark.

You also need to weigh up the cost of updating the vehicle if you do decide to sell. To get the same specification levels, comfort and quality is sure to be a very significant financial increase.

The older the car gets and the higher the mileage becomes the larger the financial gap becomes to close.
