Hi,

Could you please tell me how much discount we could expect when paying cash for a car? We are looking at a Ford Fiesta Zetec priced at $25,990 from a registered motor vehicle dealer.

Many thanks,
Suz

Discount is all about negotiation regardless of whether you are paying cash or not.

Having a car to trade can also help or hinder the process depending on the buyers expectation of their old cars value.

Having cash can mean a quick sale which may twist the salespersons arm a little but another buyer who goes away to arrange finance can often negotiate a better deal depending on how keen the Dealer is to make the sale.

Always remember, it’s impossible to offend a salesperson, so never be afraid to offer a lower than advertised price to test the water regardless of where the money is coming from.

Hi. If you finance a car on a promo like the 3% finance on Ford Fiesta dealers are more inclined to offer more discounts as the dealership has certain finance targets that they need to meet. Therefore they are more open to neg on price.'If you have the cash to buy it freehold given the economic enviroment would a better use of your money to be put some in an investment at a greater return than 3% and the pay the car off over a couple of years?
Food for though for you, as I am looking at the same thing and thinking about funding it via above deal as its a great promo and the total interest charges are not that much in comparison.
