I am considering a Primera Station Wagon 2001 with 64500km only. It is a 4 cylinder 2500cc Tiptronic motor with chain drive cam. Can you advise what model motor this is as I can find no details onit. Also does it still have CVT and can you advise any possible problems that this model may encouter and/or any major telltail signs we should look for. I will request an AA check before final purchase.

Provided the car has been regularly serviced we don’t see any major issues with this engine.

The transmission is another story. We can’t say for sure whether it has a CVT or not. If it has the words HYPER on the a rear panel then it will be fitted with a CVT otherwise you may have to take the car to a garage to confirm.

Regardless of condition and mileage we would recommend extreme caution if it is fitted with a CVT.
