Hi, we are looking at purchasing a vehicle for towing a large flat deck trailer.
Most often loaded with small lightweight sailing dinghy and 1 or 2 kayaks, occassionally loaded with the dinghy & 3 kayaks or 3 kayaks, 4 bikes and full on camping gear. Looking for high ground clearance and be able to reverse up our mid-steep driveway. considering Ford Territory, Toyota RAV, Holden Captiva. looking at 2009 or later if poss. Any recommendation on these or any other vehicles we should look at? thanks

If the Toyota RAV4 suits in terms of interior space and performance, you could add the Kia Sportage, Hyundai ix35, Honda CRV, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Qashqai and the Nissan X-Trail to your list.

In other words you have lots of very good options to consider.

One of the questions you may need to ask is just how big a car you need in terms of everyday use when you are not towing. Finding an economical and easy to-drive-around-town vehicle that has a towing capacity that meets your needs may be a sensible option.
