I'm in the process of buying a Falcon through a private sale down here in the Naki. I've booked in for an AA inspection this Friday and checked the car over in terms of general body condition, electrics etc. The WOF is however 6 weeks old. Does it have to be less than a month old to constitute a legal sale? In this scenario should I ask the owner to get a new WOF even though the curent WOF has over 4 months to run or should the AA check suffice?

Thanks

You can insist on a new WoF as a condition of agreeing to purchase the vehicle.

The fact the current WoF is only 6 weeks old should indicate there are no obvious or major mechanical issues and if you are having an a AA inspection it does eliminate risk further.

As the buyer you call the shots however and if a new WoF makes you feel more comfortable then it’s your call.

From a legal perspective there is no drama selling a vehicle with a warrant older than one month provided the buyer is aware of this fact.
