Hi Jack,
I've been looking at a Hyundai Lantra 2007 with 128,000kms on the clock. The dealer wants $11k for it. It is NZ New and is in pretty good nick. On the other hand I can get a 2001 Nissan Primera 2001 for $9k also from a dealer but the car has only done 90.000km although it is a Jap import. The spec levels are pretty much the same and both cars are manual transmission.
Am I better off going for the Nissan considering the lower kms, known reliability of the brand and cheaper price. Or should I pluck for the newer car which is probably engineered better and is NZ New. My only fear is that the resale value of the Lantra will be significantly lower than a manual Primera in a couple of years as I do about 20,000kms a year
Cheers
Jerry
Both cars have their merits but my head is leaning toward the Hyundai. I based that mainly on age however the fact it is NZ new does also sway me.
With the mileage you travel each year both vehicles are going to suffer with resale values and once again the age/mileage question will get asked regardless.
No doubt both prices are negotiable.
