Hi,

Could you tell me how reliable a 2010 Holden Cruz 2.0 Diesel tiptronic would be expected to be? It has done 100,000kms and is an ex company car. We have always owned petrol Nissan's or Toyota's so a Diesel Holden with tiptronic would be something completely different for us but as it is relatively new and seems to be a very good buy at $12k, would it be worth considering? Best regards.

The Cruze has been very much a success story for Holden in recent times. For many years they really were a one model car company with the Commodore their best seller with other models in their line-up being very average to say the least.

That has changed in recent times as Holden look to maintain production numbers and market share with the decline in the sales of Commodore size vehicles. The Cruze has certainly offered existing Holden customers an alternative vehicle and has also attracted new customers into their showrooms.

We are not aware of any major issues with the Diesel engine in fact they perform best when hot so in this case, I don’t see a major issue with the high odometer reading for the vehicles age.

Don’t forget you will need to pay Road User Charges plus higher maintenance and registration costs if you do decide on the Cruze. The big advantage of diesel ownership is the better fuel consumption over a petrol vehicle, so the higher the annual distance travelled the more the savings on fuel costs.

The asking price seems very reasonable.

Hi Jack and team

I am considering an older Holden Cruze with a much lower price tag: 2004, 84,819km with an asking price of $7000.

Is that a reasonable price to pay for a model of that age? Is there anything in particular I need to know about this model?

I am on the lookout for a vehicle around the 1500cc mark which is AWD so we can manage occassional trips to the snow and not 'miss out' on travelling on certain roads when we are exploring New Zealand.

Thanks
Brett

The 2004 Holden Cruze is a great little car to own and has a good reputation of being reliable. Ensure it has a good service history. It is a soft off-roader and should not be considered as a capable bush basher. The price seems reasonable for its age and mileage-condition dependant.
