Hi Jack,

Are there any known faults with this particular car. I know the CVT is dodgy on the Primeras of this age but does that apply to the Bluebirds as well?

The Sylphy has become a common sight on our roads in recent times and is a no-frills easy to maintain motor vehicle.

Fitted with a CVT does change things however. The early used imports fitted with this type of transmission carry considerable risk.

It’s fair to say any vehicle fitted an automatic transmission of this age is a risk and the repair costs can be equal or more than the cars total value in some cases however, the more traditional transmissions are at least repairable.

The CVT in this model Nissan may not be repairable even using non genuine after-market parts and owners can face a best-effort repair with limited warranties.
