I am thinking of buying a one tonne trailer sailer, and wanted to buy a 4WD vehicle to tow it, launch it and tow it back out of water. Would a 2.5 litre Subaru Outback be adequate or would i need to go to a 3 litre? (We currently drive a 2 litre Mazda Capella)

The 2.5 litre would handle this weight comfortably.

The only slight negative may be the fuel consumption in comparison to the Mazda. Subaru have worked very hard in recent years to retain their AWD benefits and sporty imagine while at the same time lowering fuel consumption figures.
