Hi, I'm buying a car with very high mileage but a late model which has been meticulously serviced and the dealer has given me an Autosure MBI policy for 3 years which has cost me $1250. I'm not convinced these warranties are good value and I can't get anyone to say exactly how much an MBI policy costs nor can I find any debate about whether they are worth having. any Adive? I urgently need some answers.
I can’t comment on your specific policy but the AA sells mechanical warranty insurance and for many people it’s been a great investment.
Like any insurance policy, if you have the need to use it it’s great to have while if you never have to make a claim you may consider it to be a waste of money.
Some makes/models are higher risk than others. For example, a low mileage late model Japanese vehicle is very low risk in the eyes of the underwriters while a older and high mileage European car is considered very high risk.
You would need to check just what mechanical parts your policy covers, the breakdown service available (if any) and the excess you would be expected to pay per claim etc to judge its true value.
