I am looking to upgrade my current wagon to something a little newer and less kms (current vehicle is a 2000 with 170kms). Im looking to spend about $10,000. I'm thinking my best options are either Nissan or Toyota but not sure which models to stay away from. Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed.

In the price range you are in, we would suggest it’s hard to go past a 1.8 litre Toyota Corolla Wagon.

All of the NZ new examples will have this engine fitted, but not so sure about used imports.

The Mazda Atenza is also worth a look.

The Nissan Primera is a maybe. Once again try and find a NZ new example rather than a used import especially if it is fitted with a Constant Variable Transmission (CVT).
