Hi, how often do you need to get the air condition unit topped up and what sort of cost is involved. Thanks
Like air pressure in a tyre, the air-conditioning gas will, over time, escape as a natural occurrence so a general check and top-up of the system could be justified every couple of years.
We suspect most owners don't bother however and only get their A/C looked at if they feel the performance is not as good as it should be or once was.
Most air-conditioning specialists will check a system for leaks as part of their top-up procedures anyway which is a practice we would support.
A quick ring around would indicate a check for leaks and top-up would currently cost around the $130 mark for a mainstream vehicle.
This cost could escalate rapidly if the A/C system had a problem and/or filters needed to be replaced.
