Is it best to sell a car before it reaches its 100,000KM milestone as I have heard you will get more money for it? Also when buying a car privatley what are the absolut basics one should actively check for before paying the AA to have it checked out?

Re the checks you can do yourself; general body condition, ask for a service history, vehicle presentation, unusual noises when driving, dash warning lights come on and go out, try any remotes that lock/unlock doors, check for dampness in the cabin and boot.

The list is pretty endless.
