Hi, I have paid a registered dealer a deposit on a Japanese import that unfortunately failed it's compliance and they've struggled to get parts etc to fix all the issues which has caused delays nearing almost a year now. I've lost faith and trust now (after constantly chasing them up for updates - their response always being "it'll be ready in a week or two") and so would like to pull out of the sale and get my deposit back. I haven't signed anything with them and I haven't asked them for the deposit back yet as I'm new to NZ and want to first find out what my consumer rights are with these sorts of issues. Is this a common issue in NZ?
