I own a 2006 Holden Commodore Ute which I bought because I had two large breed dogs (ute all set up with cages in canopy). I want to go back to a s/w or an SUV. I am looking at Holden Equinox but is only 1500cc or the Mitsubishi Outlander which 2360cc. I want NZ Owned. I still have one large breed dog. I want good room in the back but unsure if looking at the cc rating. I live in a town at the northern end of the Parapara Road and found with my 1996 Nissan Avenir was a great station wagon towards the end of the time and what made me traded it was the 1500 was getting tired going up and down the Parapara. So I am not sure what will suit? Are you able to adivse?
Hi, The Outlander is a good choice, however the Holden may become a issue as it gets older with Holden ceasing their production.
The Nissan it a good model but possibly it would be getting a bit old now. Other solid options would be the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Toyota Camry Station wagon.
Thank you Ian, somebody mentioned a Rav 4 to me. I think the available Toyota Camry station wagon's may be a bit old. I am very aware of Holden and them no longer ceasing their production. I have casually looked at the Mazdas. I have only owned Nissans and Holden since after my first car. I am very aware that prices of cars have increased. When I do go actively looking, I will be looking for a NZ new vehicle not an import although I have owned two imports before both Nissans. First one was great and very simple to operate (Nissan Avenir - I loved it) but the 2nd one was a bite more complicated and I got a translated manual for it. Fun and games buying and selling a vehicle. I have been told to hang on to my Holden until I find the right vehicle and them sell it privately rather than trade it in. I will get the garage that does its servicing for me what they honestly think about it (they have serviced ever since I have owned it.
