Hi Im looking at a 2007 nissan sylphy with 72000k's on the clock and an 07 Toyota caldina wagon with 158000k's. Both asking around $7k. Both imports. Which do you think is the better car for a family of 4?

Hi there,
Tough choice, but there are a few key differences in that the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy is a sedan and generally has a CVT (one-speed style) transmission that is not reported to be the most reliable (bearing failure), although it has lasted this long- but not travelled far. The Caldina is a station wagon and so could accommodate more storage, has a more conventional transmission, and is a reliable option.

Thanks for that. One more to add to the mix, a 2010 Toyota prius import, 154000 k's.
(We're replacing an 06 sylphy that we've been happy with until someone drove into the back of it!) After reliability and comfort for a max of 7k.

Hi,
No real issues with the Prius either, as long as you are able to get the battery state of health checked and you are happy with the outcome before purchase. Some Prius owners that Uber have said that they didn't need to replace the battery till over 300,000km- but they are not cheap.
