I am looking at purchasing a car from a registered dealer. The car is a 2008 model with one previous NZ owner. It looks in show room condition BUT it only has just under 50000 kms on the clock. I will test drive it and get a full AA pre purchase inspection. My husband has expressed concerns that the mileage clocked is less than 4,000 kms a year. He wonders if it may have been off the road for some considerable period of time and that if so, could seals and, hoses and some plastics begun breaking down. The car has a current WOF and Registration. Will a full prep-purchase report capture any issues of major consideration?. It looks a very good vehicle and sounds great. Thanks

Hi there,
Generally I wouldn't expect there to be any issue with this kind of mileage, however as with any vehicle they can require more maintenance or repairs as they age past 10 years. Japanese manufactured vehicle tend to pose less a risk as an older vehicle with lower km's than say a European one would.
The PPI is a visual check of the vehicle and so if there was evidence of leaks or cracks that they can see- it should be mentioned on the report.
