Hello
I am looking to replace our 2003 Nissan X/trail (it’s done 310,000km). I live rurally and commute three days a week for work, with a round trip of approx 90km. I have two children, one almost a teenager. There are so many options out there now. Unsure whether a smaller car (but still need some boot space), or stay with an SUV type (I feel safer on open roads). Also do I consider diesel?
It sounds like you wouldn't be able to manage with anything too much smaller than what you have now, I would suggest another capable SUV,
Popular models at the moment are the RAV4, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tuscon, Mazda CX5, and the Honda CRV.
Hi Ian
Thanks for your reply. I’ve done a bit of searching online and have found info to stay away from first generation Mazda Cx-3/5 dye to lots of problems. Are later models better/more reliable?
I have had a CX5 diesel since new in 2015 and now have 57,000km. It has been extremely reliable and intend getting another eventually. I believe there have been problems with diesel models coming in from Japan which have had lots of short runs which has caused expensive problems with the DPF.
