I have been very happy with my Toyota caldina, but at 22 it has had a run of things needing to be replaced so I think it's time for a newer car. I am inclined to go for another Toyota petrol station wagon, but would appreciate your advice on a reliable low maintenance car and what years models to look for or avoid.

Hi there,
The Caldina was a great wagon and sat in-between the Camry and Corolla. The Corolla wagon also known as Fielder is still a very great vehicle and has both 1.5ltr and 1.8 options if you can find them. The Camry wagon has long gone, but there is Avensis import that has some good options (just not the D4 engine) there is also some Toyota Mark X Zio wagons around too.
Another option is the Mazda 6/Atenza wagon- a very popular and good size

Thanks. I have seen a cheaper mazda premacy. Keen to know about this in comparison with the wish

Hi there,
Both are good cars, as they are Japanese they are both generally reliable and not expensive to run or maintain. The finer details and specs can vary between models as the are domestic imports, so little is able to be compared, except the the Mazda Premacy looks like it may have a standard auto transmission and the Toyota CVT with a 1.8 or 2.0 litre engine option.
