Hello - am looking at purchasing a 2012 Nissan X-Trail (4WD, auto) 118,000ks. Just after some insight into their reliability, fuel efficiency, any major red flags?
I've read something about CVT issues?

Hi there,
I've not heard of many faults on the X-trail, nor the CVT which has plagued many Nissan vehicles over the last few years. Fuel usage is 91 octane and combined fuel efficiency for the 2.5litre is listed at 9.1L/100km which is not bad for the engine size. However their is a known issue with the CVT models as read here: Poor gear shifting.
Affected vehicles
All models with continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Problem-Poor gear shifting.
Trouble codes stored: P0744, P0746, P1715, P1778.
Cause-Internal fault with transmission.
Remedy-Carry out electrical, mechanical and component tests (as applicable) to eliminate any other possible cause(s).
If no fault(s) found: Transmission requires reconditioning or replacing.
