Hi there,

Can you please tell your opinion on buying a used Volvo car with below specs,
Year:2012
Model: S60
Kilometers:116000
Engine size:1595cc
Fuel type: Petrol
Transmission: Automatic
1.6 turbo engine with 6 speed auto transmission
the reverse sensors stopped working(but got aftermarket reverse camera to compensate that)
Asking Rate: 8500 NZD

Can you tell me your opinion to buy this used car. Is the model and make reliable? I heard the oil burning issues with volvo s60 2012 model, does it make this model unreliable or is it just that we need to make sure enough engine oil is present before making a long drive by checking oil dip stick manually.
Is Volvo cars a popular or favourite car among the people in NewZealand?
I have already booked a pre-purchase inspection on coming Tuesday morning with AA for this car. The asking rate for this car is 8500 NZD, is it fair market price for a used car given that the car has clocked 116000 km. Any other major service/issues expected? Also are the parts, electric maintenance etc available in NewZealand for a reasonable price? and Does AA has got Europe car mechanics/Volvo mechanics to take good care for servicing and maintenance after the purchase?

Any other advice on this car (make, model and year) is much appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Pooja.

Also does AA have the technical capabilities to change the japanese language to English language on the odometer readings and other display settings. Also can AA load the NZ map to the volvo s60 2012 model or should only a Volvo dealer has got this capability ?. If AA can do the above two things, what is the estimated price for these two together ?

Hi there,
This work is more of a specialist procedure. There are companies who can do this kind of work: https://www.caraudioworkshop.co.nz/jptoengconversion

Hi there,
We don't really hear too many complaints or queries around Volvos, nor hear about issues, it may be that they are more of a Volvo enthusiasts purchase. You may need to look into some Volvo owners club forums for how reliable they are as they age. Keep in mind most European vehicles as they age past 10 years will require more to be spent of servicing and repairs than the likes of Japanese manufactured vehicles.
