We need to upgrade from our Toyota Carib we had for many years, and looked at a 2014 used Prius done 75k and a 2014 Honda Fit done 75k. Both Hybrids
We are in our 70s and a bit nervous about choosing a Hybrid although loved the cars. Important factor is safety rating and hatchback.
Would you recommend these cars, or do you have other better recommendations or advice.
The other question...is it better to choose low Kms and older car, or newer car with higher kms.
Many thanks for any advice.

Hi there,
Toyota has a good name for reliable vehicles of which the Prius has been. The Honda is a little less known about with regards t reliability but also seem to be a popular choice (would be my 2nd pick of the two)
From a safety feature and technology potential point of view, I recommend buying the newest car your budget allows (even if it has slightly higher km's) over older cars with lower mileage.

Thank you so much. You’ve sorted a burning question re old and newer cars so will go back to searching.
Kind wishes.

Hi again. Which would be a better option.
A 2015 Toyota Aqua hybrid done 110kKwith keys and basic interior, not the facelift model -from dealer.
Or
Nissan Juke 2010 about the same price done 63kk but has a lot of extras reversing camera, Bluetooth, stereo. Its a private sale.
Both cars have the same 4 star safety and economy ratings. The one that gives the least amount of trouble and cheaper to service etc would be a consideration too.
Thanks for any help.

Hi there,
For least amount of trouble and cheaper to service, the Aqua would be my selection. :-)
I have heard of transmission related issues on some Juke models.

Fantastic! Really appreciate your expertise. We have been so nervous buying this time. A nice dealer will pop over tomorrow with an Aqua for us to test drive. I asked about getting AA to look and eh said there is about a 2 week wait for appointments at present so may have to try a mechanic. Kind wishes.

The car looked fine...2015 facelift aqua but 105,000 K
If there was a choice for a 2014 Non facelift but lower 80ish km which is a smarter choice.
Am almost there..., many thanks.

Hi Pre Purchase inspection wait times are usually not that long, perhaps the car dealer was mistaken?
I would call our team directly on 0800 500 333 option 1 or email us on VInspections@aa.co.nz

We have done a review on the Aqua that might help you with your decision there is not a lot in it between your two choices and the face lift model only had incremental changes.
