2007 Previa failed a WOF because of a Cut in the front passenger seat belt, very small cut (less than 1mm and hard to see) but okay its safety first. The pre tensioner in it is connected to the air bag system and has a explosive charge to wind it in so its not a simple thing. Options 1) New Unit from Japan + 1 Hour to Fit $550-$600 and 2-3 week wait. 2) Re Web and have it certified with some sort of compliance paperwork $200-$250 and a 4-5 day wait and 3) unit from a wrecker that has a fault free web $60-$100. I am in option 2 camp at the moment, i think Toyota assumes these units can fly but because they are dangerous goods i think it will come by ship and be a month out. If i went option 3 and found a good clean one will the WOF re inspection accept this and pass it or ask for some sort of documentation of compliance which i wont have?

If you obtain a like for like replacement from a wrecker is should satisfy the inspector, you could perhaps retain the receipt to prove it has been replaced with a like for like used unit.
