Hi there.
My daughter is looking at buying a used Lancer Cedia or similar vehicle with tiptronic gearbox. Are there any majors to look for when checking these out initially. Obviously she will obtain a pre purchase inspection before going ahead. Your comments would be appreciated.

To be honest your daughter could do a lot better than buy this vehicle. They don’t have a lot going for them judging by past history. The engine is basically a first generation GDi (Gasoline Direct injection) which has had its issues including excessive oil consumption.
You also need to correctly identify the transmission. Some of these vehicles had a Constant Variable Transmission (CVT) which once again, was developed in the pioneering days of this technology and is not without its problems.
Mitsubishi has made huge gains in the last few years but the Cedia is not considered one of their better efforts.
Many thanks. I will pass that on to her.
