Dear advisor,
I recently bought a used car just imported from Japan. To meet NZ compliance, does its brake pads have to be new, or just of sufficient thickness, or just working well enough (regardless of pad thickness) to pass a WOF?
Thanks for your valuable advice :)

Hi there,
For compliance the brake pads and linings must display a NZ approved manufactures name, and so if no name is found then they must be replaced and often the discs/drums require replacement at the same time. The friction material, discs and drums (if not replaced) must also be of the required thickness to pass a WoF/compliance.
