Hi there,
We're looking for a family van with sliding doors (good for kids), good for fuel (smaller than 2200cc), chain driven, automatic. We're thinking about Nissan Lafesta because all the sellers show that the transmission is automatic, not CVT, eventhough I ring and ask them, they also tell me that it's automatic, but I've read one of the answer here that Lafesta has some issue with CVT. Up to $7,000 there are also Nissan Serena, Mazda Premacy, and Mazda MPV but all are CVT. Please give me some advice. Thank you so much.
This is what we're thinking about https://www.trademe.co.nz/2179991099
Do you think that it's CVT?

Hi Kyle,
Anything is possible with Japanese domestic imports. Out of the 5 models I can see for 2010, 3 have CVT transmissions. The CVT is still classed as automatic, it's just not seen as a "conventional" automatic. They're not all bad, but it just pays to make sure a specialist has checked and serviced one before you purchase. Mazda seem to have less reported issues with CVT transmissions than is mentioned with Nissan and Honda in the mid 2,000 year periods.
