Hi there, I am looking at getting a new import 2007 1.5 L Toyota IST, 2nd generation series (56,000km). It seems like the new generation of IST is fitted with a CVT transmission. Can you confirm if that’s true? If yes, I have read that Toyota CVT transmissions are not as problematic as CVT of other brands. Would you recommend getting this year and model?

Otherwise, another choice is a 2006 1.5 L Toyota Ractis (41,000km). Would either of these cars be good choices to get? Thank you.

Hi there,
This is true, the Ist does come out with a CVT, so does the Ractis, but Toyota CVT's haven't been reported as problematic as some manufacturers of the same years. So either car would be a reliable choice providing they have been treated well, not rusty, and well serviced.
