Dear advisor,
When a vehicle has a change of licence plate (recorded on Carjam), and the cause of latest registration is stated as "new", is there any way to find out the actual reason for the new plate? My concern is that the reason may be the re-registration of a repaired vehicle that had been written off.

Just check that the car didn't have personalised plates changed, or the licensing could have lapsed and required new plates. Also look at length of ownership and if any businesses were listed as owners, Auctions houses or workshops names on the ownership lists. Short periods of ownership might also dictate a purchase and quick repair turnaround. Maybe even get the vehicle inspected for signs of damage repairs if you are interested. The amount of information available can vary if you get a free or paid history check, not sure which report you received.
