Hi there,
I am thinking of buying a used Kia Picanto 2010 of trademe. The car has done 90,000km. I will get the pre-purchase inspection done from AA. But before that can you please advise me if this car has timing belt or chain? If it has a timing belt then how often it needs to be replaced?

Hi there,
From the specs I can see (UK) the G4HG 1,100cc petrol engine is run by cambelt and replacement is due at 135,000Km. For more accurate information you may need to call a Kia dealer with the vehicle chassis number.

Would AA inspector be able to tell if the cam-belt has been replaced or it is not part of the check?

Only if there is a sticker in the engine bay that says that it has been replaced on a certain date- they are unable to remove and inspect any components.

AA has got mobile vehicle inspector for pre-purchase inspection for Auckland area? If so, do they only inspect vehicle on weekdays?
