I am looking at a second-hand import Nissan NV200 Vanette which has a rear bench seat, but no belts, which mean it is only certified in NZ as a 2 seater.
The rear seat has iso-fix attachment points, so would it be legal to use it with an approved child restraint? I have all the required tethers to negate the need for using belts.
I understand it is very expensive to source the correct belts and have the vehicle recertified as a 5-seater.
Hi there,
The NZTA have a child restraint factsheet which states: If you do not have child restraints or safety belts fitted in your van or car, you are not permitted to transport children under the age of 7 in your vehicle.
The link is below: https://www.nzta.govt.nz/assets/resources/factsheets/07/docs/07-child-restraints.pdf
Hi Cade, Thanks for your response and the attached link.
After reading thoroughly, my interpretation is that I am fine to use our approved child restraint with the Iso-Fix points.
