I am looking for a second hand hatchback and have come across a couple of Renault Clio models - both 2007.
I am very unfamiliar with these cars and have not found anyone who can give me much in the way of information or advice. I really just want to know if this is a reliable model of car in NZ and if it expensive/difficult to get it serviced.
I am approaching with caution as my last European hatchback experience (2005 VW Golf) was not a good one!

Hi there,
Unfortunately we're a bit short on NZ reliability information on these cars also. So we would apply similar logic as with most aging European cars. These cars are generally better at driving, handling, more fuel efficient, and have more safety features than a Japanese manufactured vehicle of the same age. However, technology and age don't often go well together and you might find that cooling systems and electrical components can start to require more attention as the vehicle reaches 10+years. Because they require specialists to work on these cars efficiently, we often have to pay more for this and so repairs can become very expensive. We would recommend a pre-purchase inspection and maybe looking into a mechanical warranty to see if one can be of benefit to you.

Thanks. I'll look into the pre-purchase inspection if after seeing and test driving the car I'm thinking about purchasing it.
