Hi guys, I was looking to get an economical hatchback for my daily commute around 50km mainly looking for space / reliability and engine 1.5 to 2. would you advise to go with a Axela or Corolla as both seem to be reliable and easy to maintain. Both are available around the year 2005 to 2008, similar price. But corolla with higher kms circa 2005 and Axela with much lower kms circa 2007. Appreciate your feedback on both, thanks.

Both are good cars, however there can be differences between Japanese (Mazda Axella, Toyota Allex, Runx, and Auris) and NZ new (Corolla), safety specs and tests would be different for a start. The Corolla would have an ANCAP safety rating or a UCSR (used car safety rating) while there are generally no specs available for Japanese imports.
