I am looking for an SUV that will be relatively troublefree for the next 5 years at least and have a budget of $15-20k. I have searched for vehicles 2013 and newer, odometer < 80k and the options that have popped up are:
- Mitsubishi ASX
- Suzuki SX4 S-Cross
- Nissan Qashqai
- Subaru XV
Which SUV would you recommend for a $15-20k budget?
Or should I stretch my budget a little to $22 - 23k so that I can include the RAV4, Vitara, CX5 etc? And if yes, which would you recommend?

These are all pretty good and popular choices, my pick would be the Subaru XV for size, reliability and versatility. The next class up present also some very good options with my top pick being the Mazda CX-5.

Most of the vehicles we have discussed don't have a history of being particularly problematic with their transmissions. Generally the CVT from 2010 onwards has been pretty reliable compared to in the mid 2000's ones.
