Hi. Am considering a Japanese import 2013 Nissan Lafesta Highway Star. I have read about cvt problems in earlier versions. Any known problems with the 2013 version? Is the cvt still a concern? Anything else I should look out for? Thanks.

Hi there,
As these vehicles are Japanese imports there is little information available. But from what I can see is that for the second generation this vehicle was sourced from Mazda and the transmission changed from CVT to a conventional auto. This should have potential to be more reliable as Mazda are generally pretty good. If you need further information it might be best to speak with a transmission specialist.

Hi Cade,

Thanks for the quick response. So I guess in general stay away from the CVTs.
If there were 2 vehicles that had similar condition & price, which would be a better choice:
a. 2015 model with 73k on the odometer
b. 2013 model with 54k on the odometer
