Hi, I have a 750kg fibreglass caravan which does not have brakes. I currently tow it with a V6 Odyssey which tows it well. However I recently read on your towing capacity data that the odyssey only has an unbraked rating of 400Kg. Is it therefore illegal to tow with my odyssey?
Also I was considering replacing my tow car. Is it worth getting brakes fitted so that I have more choice? Or would caravan brakes for such a light caravan be an unnecessary expense?
I would appreciate your thoughts.
Cheers

Hi there,
Most vehicles list an unbraked tow capacity of 750kg, so you may find that apart from the Odyssey, the next vehicle might be ok if information is available(imports don't usually have a rating). Insurance might make things difficult if you are operating a vehicle outside the manufacturers specs- the vehicle has been tested and is confirmed to stop within safe tolerances while towing 400kg unbraked.
