What truth is there in the rumour that repairs, parts and maintenance for BMW cars is higher than most other brands?

Hi there,
European cars are often filled with technology and require specialist knowledge and repairs of which you can pay more for. It is very hard to compare with a Japanese car, but when compared to other European brands, I think the costs of maintenance would be no higher.

Thanks for that info/view. I am looking at a BMW (among others) to replace my Mitsubishi Lancer that was written off last week. Even that could be expensive to maintain occasionally. I am reminded of what my father said when I bought my first car; "well, you'll never be rich again".
